By BGR Staff • This past week BGR donated $12,000 to support communities, both globally and nationally, adversely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. To assist the international effort, BGR contributed $5,000 to the World Food Program USA to provide food relief to people in other countries afflicted by hunger worsened by the pandemic.

While we mainly partner with small and middle-sized organizations, there are good reasons why each year we form a few partnerships with large global organizations. Probably the most compelling reason, is that large organizations have the strongest capacity for producing positive results at the largest scale.

The effect of this order is to confront workers with a horrendous choice: either risk losing their jobs or risk losing their lives.

At this year's annual projects meeting, the BGR Board approved funding for 41 projects, offering more than $600,000 in grants to sponsor projects with our partners around the world.

A BGR project in Peru, with Peruvian partner Asociación Grupo de Trabajo Redes, is dedicated to providing marginalized women with access to vocational educational training, information about their labor rights, and opportunities to find dignified work.
A project with BGR partner Burma Humanitarian Mission funds educations for the children of "backpack medics" who provide needed health care to members of oppressed and persecuted ethnic minorities in the most vulnerable areas of Myanmar.
