The mission of the U.S.-based Joan Rose Foundation is to improve the lives of children and their families in Jacmel, Haiti. Working out of three feeding/learning centers, the foundation provides vulnerable children with food, tutoring, school tuition, medicine, and clothing, with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty for these children and their families.
BGR’s grant supports Joan Rose Foundation’s food program, which provides nutritious meals to 610 children. For many of these children, these meals provide their only source of reliable nutrition during the week, staving off malnutrition. The food program allows the children to focus in school and tutoring sessions, improves their overall nutrition and well-being, and takes a financial burden and stress off their parents.
