Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala began working to help the poor and needy in 2003, using bamboo huts to provide classroom and hostel space to area children. Generous support from villagers and other donors allowed the group to acquire 29 acres in Diyun, where it now offers a range of humanitarian services.
A grant from BGR will help Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala continue to help at-risk students. Many of the students who arrive at the group’s hostel and school are malnourished prior to admission. The grant will help provide healthy meals as students prepare to begin school, as well as covering the cost of uniforms and school supplies, improving the lives of 288 students. Second year of a three-year project.
