BGR’s partner in this project, U.S.-based Art Creation Foundation for Children (ACFFC), provides art instruction, tutoring, medical care, daily food and water, and tuition support for children in need in Jacmel, Haiti. Continuing economic and political instability in Haiti are leaving ever greater numbers of children at risk of malnutrition or even of being given up to orphanages by families who cannot afford to feed them.

This project provides about 64 children in need with at least one nutritious, filling meal per day, six days per week. The goal of this project is to ensure that every child has access to a nutritious meal from Monday through Saturday. By providing reliable daily nutrition, the program helps children stay focused and engaged in their learning, setting them up for greater success in school and beyond. The feeding program also helps to relieve some of the financial pressure on parents and caregivers who are facing economic difficulties. By easing this burden, the project contributes to a stronger, healthier community where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Our partner in Haiti reports a significant increase in the number of children who are going to school hungry after not having eaten a meal the night before; for many, this feeding program provides their only opportunity to eat each day. When schools are closed due to political instability or other causes, food boxes with enough supplies for the whole family are delivered to the children at home. Without this program, many of the children would spend their days either looking for food or working rather than attending school.
