This grant to BGR partner the Bodhicitta Foundation, supports the education and training of 30 teenage girls at risk of having their education cut short and of being forced into early marriage due to poverty. The girls come from some of the poorest regions in India. They receive instruction in nursing, social work, or law as well as job training so they can become agents of change and help others when they return to their villages. Through the grant, the young women receive scholarships funding school fees, clothes, shelter, books, and other expenses. Bodhicitta also runs a social services center offering legal help to women facing divorce, domestic violence, and land disputes and providing job training for poor women in sewing, computers, English, beauty therapies, and other subjects. Additionally, Bodhicitta’s food program provides about 6,000 meals per year for undernourished children. Third year of a three-year project
