Lotus Outreach International (LOI), a BGR partner since 2009, works to improve the lives of women and girls in Cambodia through initiatives that increase girls’ access to education. LOI’s Cambodian Tertiary Education and Leadership Youth Training (CATALYST) program supports qualified high school graduates from some of the poorest families in rural Cambodia as they continue their education. Support from BGR helps cover the costs of school supplies, professional development and capacity building workshops, mentoring, counseling, books, and course fees. By facilitating access to higher education, the program activates the social and economic potential of young women at the margins, empowering them to become agents of social change and providing the emotional support and mentorship they need to successfully pursue their goals and dreams. These women serve as role models for future generations, and combat harmful class and gender norms on a societal level. This year, the project will support scholarships for 31 young women.
