Founded in 2003 under the blessings of Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita, new BGR partner Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala provides free education, food aid, clothing, and health care to children in need in the Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh. Two hundred and forty children attend the residential Mahabodhi School Jyotipur, Diyun. In this region where public education is poorly funded and primary schools may include more than 100 children in a single class, Mahabodhi provides quality teaching as well as much needed food and other support, including textbooks and other study materials and uniforms. Our partner observes that a majority of children are suffering from the effects of malnutrition when they first arrive at the Mahabodhi School Jyotipur. This grant partially funds the school’s food program, helping to provide 240 students with three healthy meals a day, seven days a week. New partner, new project
