Lotus Outreach, a trusted BGR partner since 2009, is dedicated to ensuring the education, health, and safety of at-risk and exploited women and children in the developing world, especially in Cambodia. This long-standing BGR project provides rice support to female students receiving scholarships through Lotus Outreach’s GATE and CATALYST programs. The GATE Program offers educational scholarships to girls pursuing primary and secondary education; the CATALYST program, which is supported by a grant from BGR, builds on this foundation by supporting girls who are pursuing higher education at universities and vocational training institutes across Cambodia.
Fundamental to the success of these programs is Lotus Outreach’s Rice Support program, which gives rice directly to impoverished female students in rural Cambodia. The program provides reliable nourishment to a population affected by food insecurity while also freeing up limited familial resources for the girls’ educations. BGR support provides rice-support scholarships to 70 female high school students and 44 female university students and their families, feeding an estimated 400 people. Annually renewable project
