This is BGR’s second year partnering with Maitreya Charity in a project sited in Mongolia. One-third of Mongolia’s population experiences extreme poverty and is unable to afford basic food and shelter. Asral NGO was established in 2001 under the auspices of Ven. Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche with the objective of keeping families together and preventing children from going onto the streets. “Asral” is Mongolian for “care.” Ven. Rinpoche established the Hot Meal Project in partnership with local government and community leaders. The project will provide nutritious meals for 34 school children, ranging in age from 6 to 17. The program gives them access to education they would otherwise not have. In addition to the lunches, the project will also supply the children with mentoring, educational supplies, disease prevention training, basic hygiene instruction, clothing, vitamins, social activities, and games. Annually renewable project
