In Cameroon, the ongoing civil war known as the Anglophone Crisis has resulted in the death of thousands of civilians, forced children out of school, and displaced more than a million people. In the relatively stable port city of Tiko, thousands of people are living as IDPs (internally displaced persons), separated from their home communities and in dire need not only of humanitarian assistance but also of education for their children. Longtime BGR partner Community Relief and Development Action (COREDA) is a Tiko-based nonprofit organization which, since 2009, has been actively providing support services for vulnerable communities in the southwest and northwest provinces of Cameroon. This year’s project provides educational sponsorship to 75 schoolchildren in need.
