Many girls in Bangladesh are married as young teenagers. Girls ages 15 to 19 are twice as likely to die during pregnancy or childbirth as older women, and the babies born to young mothers have a 50 percent increased risk of death. The Inspiring Married Adolescent Girls to Imagine New Empowered Futures (IMAGINE) project, with partner CARE, provides vocational training for married adolescent teenagers in Bangladesh so they can pursue alternative opportunities and shape their own futures. Through this grant, 200 young women will participate in an entrepreneurship and training program in IT, telecom sales, and mobile repair and will be provided with laptops and mobile repair kits as needed. A select cohort of 100 young women, identified by demonstrated interest and capacity, receive startup funding upon completion of their studies. This grant will directly benefit 200 young women and their families. New partner, new project
