According to UNICEF, the number of Haitian children in need of humanitarian aid has increased by half a million in the last two years. With this project, longtime BGR partner Trees That Feed Foundation (TTFF) provides nutrient-rich and hearty food to schoolchildren.

In addressing hunger and education, TTFF also supports the local economy and improves climate resilience in in the region by promoting the planting of breadfruit trees and the processing of the crops. The process results in a shelf-stable flour that can be made into Konparets, a Haitian-style biscuit primarily made from breadfruit flour and other local ingredients, produced by small local bakeries in the area. The food is nutritious, calorie-rich, and filling. The project also provides educational materials to students whose schools participate in the breadfruit breakfast program. More than 1,500 schoolchildren will receive this supplemental feeding.
