Each year for the last decade, supporters of Buddhist Global Relief have come together for our Walks to Feed the Hungry. As we walked together in the Dharma, we raised funds to support BGR’s work to relieve the suffering of chronic hunger and poverty worldwide.

In 2020, in response to the COVID pandemic, Buddhist Global Relief launched our inaugural Buddhist Action to Feed the Hungry series of online events. These events have been a great success, offering opportunities to connect with our Dharma community around the world while raising funds to assist those most in need.

As the COVID pandemic continues to cause suffering and disruption around the world, we are once again gathering online for our fall Buddhist Action to Feed the Hungry season. Led by BGR founder and chair Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi, we have planned two wonderful gatherings for this year:

On Saturday, October 2, at 1 p.m. Pacific time, we will host our Pacific/Mountain gathering. Our featured Dharma speakers will include Ven. Thubten Chodron, abbess of Sravasti Abbey; Abbot Hozan Senauke from Berkeley Zen Center; Rev. Jin Chuan from Berkeley Buddhist Monastery; Rev. Kuwahara from Berkeley Buddhist Temple; Ayya Dhammadipa, founder of the Dassanāya Buddhist Community; and Ven. Lekshe Tsomo from Sakyadhita International Association of Buddhist Women and the Jamyang Foundation.

On Saturday, October 30, at 1 p.m. Eastern time, we will hold an Eastern/Central gathering. Featured teachers will include Roshi Joan Hoeberichts, of Heart Circle Sangha, Ridgewood, N.J.; Ven. Khenmo Drolma, of Vajra Dakini Nunnery; Ven. Myokei Shonin, of Myoken-Ji Temple, Nichiren Buddhist Sangha of Texas; Rev. Greg Snyder, of Union Theological Seminary; and Rev. Doyeon Park, of Buddhist Council of New York.

Both programs will also feature a musical performance by Rev. Heng Sure, Managing Director of the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery, now in Australia.

Please join us for one or both of these events. We look forward to practicing with you!
